Trail Cleanups

What are Guided Cleanup Hikes?

A group of volunteers, nature-lovers, wildlife protectors, naturalists, and others based in Orlando, FL, dedicated to protecting Florida quieter spots in nature. The purpose of these hikes is to promote the natural beauty of Florida -- what you won't see in the shopping malls and amusement parks. We'll do our best to identify and inform about the overwhelming multitude of native flora and fauna in our state. We'll also clean up any garbage that unenlightened hikers may have left along the paths. We meet once a week, on Saturday morning, to investigate a new part of Florida .

How can I join?

It is not necessary to be an active member of ECO-Action in order to join us for a guided cleanup hike. However, we would love your support.

What should I expect?

The unexpected!! Some days are a leisurely walk with almost no trash to haul back out. Other days are backbreaking hauls back to civilization. Most locations do not have restrooms. Trips begin at 8 am and usually last 3-4 hours.

What should I bring?

Good hiking shoes, drinking water, sun protection (sunscreen, hat, long-sleeved shirt), snacks, camera (in waterproof container), change of clothing. Do not eat a large meal just before hiking to prevent nausea. Be prepared to accept "I'm might get wet and grimy, and love it".
