HiWay Cleanups

What are Highway Cleanups? A group of volunteers, nature-lovers, wildlife protectors, naturalists, and others based in Orlando, FL, dedicated to keeping the trash at bay on our roadsides. The purpose of these cleanups is to be a part of the solution instead of being part of the problem. We'll clean up any garbage that unenlightened passersby may have left along the roads and highways. We meet 4 times a year on Sunday mornings.
How can I join?

It is not necessary to be an active member of ECO-Action in order to join us for a guided cleanup hike. However, we would love your support.

Do I need reservations?

What should I expect?

The unexpected!! Some days are a leisurely walk with almost no trash to haul back out. Other days are backbreaking hauls back to civilization. Most locations do not have restrooms. Trips begin at 8 am and usually last 3-4 hours.

What should I bring?

Good hiking shoes, drinking water, sun protection (sunscreen, hat, long-sleeved shirt), snacks, camera (in waterproof container), change of clothing. Do not eat a large meal just before hiking to prevent nausea. Be prepared to accept "I'm might get wet and grimy, and love it".
