Re-Use Resale Shop

Create a new temporary home for used goods. The Re-use Resale Shop is a way to redistribute used goods around from one spot to another, instead of ending up in a landfill somewhere. It is also a good fundraiser. Money is not really an issue, although it helps to pay the rent for the temporary home of these goods.

Gifting and Re-use Groups

ECO-Action has just become aware of an online group/list in Brevard County, Florida, where people give away or get things for free, to keep more stuff out of the landfills. These are not barter groups. This is not a commercial venture. This is stuff to be had for free. Free is free.

Carol tells ECO-Action, "I've been on it (the list) for a couple of weeks and have gotten rid of several chairs, a ceiling fan, a bed tray, and some plants and other miscellaneous stuff, and I've gotten a TV antenna, a small TV, a CD case, etc...It's a good way to clear stuff out when you don't have enough stuff/time/energy for a yard sale and a good way to get stuff you may need for free. You can offer stuff you have or ask for stuff you want. Pass the word along to those who might be interested.

There are three Brevard Recycle Groups. Each has its own Yahoo Group message board. These groups practice a concept to reduce landfill debris and share with other members of the community that may put these items to good use. In the end, you have the joy of taking home a new treasure, while putting a smile on someone's face, and meeting others in your community.
